HD Loader is a program for the PlayStation 2 video game console which allows users to play games. The unofficial HD Loader is currently at version 0.8c as of April. The HD Loader is an application (.ELF) for your PS2 that you can run off your memory Card an USB Stick or a CD an then load your games off the Hard Drive that you can.

This program is a nice way to backup your sons game disks. This program will require you to boot from the cd in order to backup or run the programs.

You will also need the playstation 2 network adapter and a hard drive. I suggest the maxtore 120 gig drive. They are the most compatible with the playstation 2 units. However, if you are just interested in backing up your games you can look into puchasing a game resurfacer. This is basically a little unit that buffs your games back into shape. I hope this helps.

Hd advanced loader works well but. Ok first of all order this program it works great second of all the network adapter is compatible with all hard drives from 4gb to 300gb. With a simple mod to the network adapter it will fit any hard disk. You remove the back metal plate using a microscrew driver then remove the torque screws from the ide port using a size 7 torque screw driver found at Sears belive it or not.

Simply plug the ide port into the hard drive then plug the drive into the power port slide the unit into the bay and screw it in. Next sometimes the first format doesnt' take for some reason i had a problem with mine. Copied the hulk game and shut the system off and it was gone when i cut it back on. TIP when shutting down the PS2 use the top button (reset switch) hold it down and it will turn red and shut down the system then hit the rear off switch or you risk losing your drives data.

You will notice the drive runs a few seconds more after you use the reset/off switch giving it time to save. If you see an orange (amber) light under your controller ports that doesnt' ever go away and hd advanced loader just seems to sit there your drive is locked up restart and hopefully you wont' need to format again. Sometimes when you cut the system on with the hd advanced loader disk in the playstation may not recognize the disk try reseting a few times till it does. Also incase you dont' know (directions dont' say) your hard drive must be in the jumper setting of master, not master with slave but master some hard drives require no jumper for just master. If you get a black screen from a newly converted game it probably is a dvd 9 or special dvd format and so far HD advanced loader isn't compatible with dual layer disk or special dvd formats. XIII doesnt' work with hd adv loader but i hear there are ways around this. This is an excelent program and i highly recomend this to any one with disk scratching disease.
